We started Tabi for travellers who want the story, not just the sight.
Too many trips to Tokyo follow the same checklist: the same crowded spots, a quick photo and a one-line explanation. Travellers leave having seen the city, but not understood it. Every Tabi tour is built around the stories behind each place — who built it, who still lives there, and why it matters — told by guides who know them first-hand.

Ride to the end of the line for a river trail, a suspension bridge and lunch by Lake Okutama — and you're still inside Tokyo.

How To Book
01
Pick a Tour and an Open Slot
Open a tour to see the days it runs and the times still available. The calendar only shows open slots, so anything you see can be booked. Can't find a date that works? Send us a message and we'll check with the team.
Add how many are coming, choose Japanese or English, and leave a note about anything we should plan around — dietary needs, walking pace, a birthday, or a place you'd love to include. Your guide reads every note before the day.

Pay to Secure
Your Slot
Slots are first come, first served, and only a completed payment holds your place. You pay the full tour price online, and a confirmation email arrives straight away with your booking details.
A day or two before the tour, your guide messages you directly on WhatsApp or LINE. They'll confirm the meeting point and what to wear and bring, then guide you there step by step on the day.

What They Said

Frequently
Asked
Questions
How many people can join?
From one to six. Each tour shows its maximum group size, and the night drive takes up to three guests per car.
How does pricing work?
Prices are per person, in three tiers: solo, couple, and group of 3–6. The bigger the group, the lower the price per person.
When is my booking confirmed?
As soon as payment is complete. Slots are first come, first served, so we can't hold a date without payment.
Can I book a date that isn't shown?
Yes. Send us a message and we'll check our guides' schedules.
Can the tour be in Japanese?
Yes. Every tour runs in Japanese or English — choose when you book.
What happens if it rains?
Most tours run in light rain. For Okutama and the night drive, we move the date or refund you if the weather isn't safe.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel up to 72 hours before your tour for a full refund. Between 72 and 24 hours before, we refund 50%. Within 24 hours of the start, or if you don’t show up, the payment can’t be refunded. You can move your date once for free up to 72 hours before. If we cancel because of weather or safety, you choose a new date or a full refund.

Started by a Kawagoe local. Run by people who love the back streets.
Aiko Tanaka grew up in Kawagoe, watching visitors walk past the stories she knew by heart. After ten years guiding in Tokyo, she started Tabi in [year] to share them properly — with small groups, unhurried routes and guides who know each place first-hand. Today she still plans every route and trains each guide herself.
